Lauren and Jamie's wedding album at Mercure Great Dane Hotel

Lauren and Jamie's wedding was a beautiful wedding in July at Great Dane Mercure Maidstone

We had a fantastic time in the run up to the wedding, doing a Pre-Wedding shoot at the wedding venue and then hair and make-up trials

We all enjoyed the 'Big Day' and were very happy with the photos as were Lauren & Jamie

Chloe Hunter at Takes 2 Video did a great job of the video to

The Geeky bit

The day had some of the usual challenges of the wedding day, low light for the wedding prep - we blended in bounce flash, direct sun for the group shots - we positioned people to avoid the sun as best as possible and used fill flash, with the private shoot of the bride and groom we shot them in the shade or back-lit and lit them with flash through an umbrella

The majority of the wedding was shot with Pentax, K5iis Body and Grip, with Pentax K30 as a backup body and a KR as a Backup to the backup

A selection of glass was used, mainly the goto lens on the K5iis was the Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 EX DG HSM lens, Very Very sharp, fast focus and fast maximum aperture lovely lens would recommend to anyone shooting Pentax - much prefer this over any of Pentax's offerings at this focal range

Other lenses used were the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX DG OS HSM, again I highly recommend this for pentax users - edit I think it has now been discontinued in Pentax mount but Pentax have released a new 70-200 f2.8 lens :-)

Also used was the Pentax DA 50mm f1.8,  DA35mm f2.4 and Sigma 85mm f1.4

All lovely lenses on Pentax APSC bodies, the Sigma 85mm f1.4 EX DG HSM is considered too long for APSC by many but I absolutely love this focal length on Pentax for weddings, certainly not very versatile but that's what the zooms are for.

On the K30 usually mounted was the Pentax DA 17-70 f4 used by my Wife Cloe, Not a fast aperture but she finds the extra reach more useful

Additional lighting was provided by 2 Metz 58 af-2 hot shoe mounted flash guns, one on each camera but not ever used as direct flash - we always bounce our light from a wall or ceiling behind as to achieve a much more flattering light - this requires increasing the cameras ISO sensitivity a bit or opening up the aperture but a small price to pay for flattering light.

We did use a Yongnuo YN560ii flash gun off camera for the private shoot with Lauren and Jamie, and used a kood 100 cm white shoot through umbrella to soften the light, and a set of Yongnuo  wireless triggers to fire the flashes off camera

We currently swear by the Energizer Extreme Rechargeable 2300mah AA batteries in our flash guns, they are amazing and they stay charged when not used
